Description alan 2006-11-23 10:24:08 UTC
ayaniger->hbrinkm:
This issue is a follow-up to Issue 58982. I submitted a patch there for the
proper export of RTL footnotes. The exported file looks fine in Word, but when I
re-import it into OOo, the footnotes are not aligned properly. I see after
running a debugger that during import for RTL I have to change alignment values
of the footnote's SvxLRSpaceItem, which is created in
SwWW8ImplReader::RegisterNumFmtOnTxtNode. If I make those changes, the footnotes
are imported properly.
Is there a way that I can check in SwWW8ImplReader::RegisterNumFmtOnTxtNode
whether the current paragraph is RTL? If not, where would be the best place to
check for RTL and make the required changes?

Issue 58982 is not about Footnotes, it is about normal numberings.
The patch proposal you made there will be added to the product soon.
If you have a seperate problem regarding Footnotes, please add a sample document
here. Please also add a patch proposal here, if you have one.
Thanks a lot.

ayaniger->mru:
While it is true that the first patch I submitted to issue 58982 deals with
numbering in general, the last patch there deals specifically with footnotes.
(Both patches were checked and found working.)
Since I would like very much to add a patch proposal here, I wrote my previous
post asking for advice about how to do it. If you or some else can help out, I
would be grateful. I'll submit a test document later today.

MRU->HBRINKM: this issue is related to issue 58982. Footnote numberings behave
quite similarto normal numberings (see attachments) when exported to WW8.
Perhaps you could give some advice to ayanninger how to apply his patch. Thanks
a lot!

I'm attaching a sample OOo Hebrew document with footnotes. The screenshots show
the lower portion of page 1 in the original document, the same text in MS Word
after export (it looks good), and then re-imported into OOo. After re-import,
the footnotes look very bad, since they are aligned to the left instead of
right. The numbering in the document is aligned to the right, but it is also
wrong because there is no indent. I think that these are different issues, so at
present I'm working only on the footnotes.

Please note that I'm working with a version of OOo that includes the patches I
submitted in Issue 58982.

See the patch to issue 97023, which fixes this for OOo 3 lists. The problem
still exists for lists in older documents, but I don't plan to work on a patch
for old documents. Wouldn't it be more appropriate if OOo converted the lists to
the new format when opening old documents?

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
