Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71732
Localized font family names are not shown in the font list
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:31:03 UTC
An illustration attached tries to explain this phenomenon. Some TTF font files embedded in Solaris 10 has localized a font family name, but a font list of OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 or StarSuite 8 Evaluation (PU3 rev.2) does not list the localized ones. However, adding such font files using spadmin seems to have soffice notice that the font files have localized font family names.
Created attachment 40721 [details] illustrates a phenomenon.
Created attachment 40723 [details] dumps a 'name' table in a TTF and TTC font file.
Created attachment 40724 [details] lists font files embedded in Solaris 10 3/05, produced with the Perl script above.

Created attachment 40740 [details] lists "Western font name;Japanese font name"
Created attachment 40741 [details] appends new entries with "Japanese font name;Western font name" at the end of file
pl->hdu: seeing from the both pspfontcache this is a case of first come first serve; adding the font with spadmin just changes coincidentally the sequence in which the fonts are added to ImplDevFontList. It seems the alias names go away somewhere in outdev3.cxx in ImplDevFontList::Add
.
