This bug occurs without any identifiable cause, and randomly. The pictures disappear from the file, and the file is substantially smaller.
This is a P2 issue.
MRU->ES: pls have an eye on this, it looks that sometimes graphic content gets lost when saving in OO format.
We need more information to make this reproducible. Please try to find out what happens when, which kinds of documents are concerned (attach them), which kind of pictures.
related to issue 59915 ??
Yes, I believe it's concerning the same problem as issue 59915 . I also have that problem with linked images, and it seems that sometimes the images first get embedded and then lost. Currently I am not sure whether saving really is the problem, but one of my oberservations is that often the images are lost when I repoen a document.

I have had this bug happen to me on several occasions with several versions of OOo. Typically, I leave OOo Writer open overnight with a few different documents open, and when I return and scroll around I find that most all images in several of the documents have been replaced with a red square the size of the image but containing only the message "Link cannot be found" or similar. typically, these documents are some 20 pages and contain various images on most pages, I have not seen it happen on small documents. If I just close OOo entirely and reopen the documents, all is well. If I save the documents, they will be broken upon reopening - most or all images missing, no squares. I would send you an example document I got corrupted yesterday, but unfortunately its contents are classified. If you wish I could try to provoke this bug with some innocuous sample document and make screenshots. The severity of this bug is obviously high - I had to recreate a lot of images for a major job the other day, and even then I feel uncertain that that particular ODT is healthy.
Why is this issue shown as closed? I have the same issues as stockfeltm. I have a six page document with two different graphics embedded. When the graphics disappeared, there was boxes the same size as the graphics with "read error" in the boxes. When I saved the document, closed, then reopened, the boxes were completely gone with no graphics. This usually happens when I have the document open for an extended period of time and either switch between programs or wake the computer up.
