Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71127
OOo birthday cake logo (6th birthday)
Last modified: 2009-05-03 02:32:42 UTC
I got the SVG source of the modified logo for the fifth OOo birthday with an added sixth candle by Marko Möller (markomlm). I don't know the license of the original (5th birthday) logo, but I'm quite sure it has been licensed under an appropriate license, as it was presented on our homepage. I just moved the candles around a bit, so I didn't do really great thing. Marko: Do you know more about the cake's license? (Usage of the logo itself is restricted as to be read in the wiki: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoArt--OOo_logo_license I'll attach the SVG source and an EPS version to this issue to be used for OOo marketing reasons.

As the SVG metadata reads, the cake has been created by nicubunu, licensed under Public Domain. So everybody who wants to use this logo for his/her purpose has to be aware of the restictions with regard to the logo usage, for the cake usage is allowed. (Please correct me, Nicu, if I'm wrong - for this purpose added to CC) Bernhard
Indeed, any kind of usage is allowed for my cake, in fact the logo is already a modified form (topping colour, number of candles). And you are corect about the limitations in using the logo as a whole because of the OOo logo usage guidelines. Bernhard, you should consider changing the license information in SVG metadata for the composite logo, as the entire image can't be Public Domain because of the OOo logo (PD allows this relicensing). Note: this change inside the file can be made with any text editor or with Inkscape.
Even if the birthday cake might be redesigned every year, this version is outdated. Issue will be closed (resolution "LATER" to find it easier). When a new version is created for any anniversary, the issue might be reopened.
