i.e. the sample attached .xls document has a split window view, but the top view
is very small. So clicking in the first row of A1, then typing some text and
left and right arrow keys (under GNOME) causes redraw problems and some other
rendering artifacts. unticking window->split works around the problem

DR->NN: Vertical split position is on column headers in Excel and Calc, so import 
works correctly. Column headers are drawn inside cell area when cursor is moved 
in row 1.
