Description aziem 2006-10-23 01:56:20 UTC
To reproduce:
1. Create blank presentation in Impress
2. Turn off any HTTP proxies in Java and OOo
3. Turn on the built-in OOo dialogs
4. Insert->Movie and Sound
5. Use the link http://fredrik.hubbe.net/plugger/testold.avi (>1MB)

Results:
- OpenOffice.org becomes unresponsive as it loads the .avi
- In some cases, all X11 programs can stop responding while the .avi is loading.
- The .avi seems to reload every time the slide is loaded, so flipping between
slides is slow.
- The video is linked, but it does not show in Edit->Links.
- It is not possible to break the link (to embed the video).

Inconsistency:
- Inserting a .jpg in Insert->Picture->From file behaviors differently than the
above.

Expected results:
- OOo opens the video no more than once until the presentation is closed.
- It is possible to embed the video.

Is this linux you are using? Is the office version originally downloaded from
OOo site? Thanks in advance.
Comment 2 aziem 2006-11-02 05:00:21 UTC
Yes, Fedora Core 5 Linux with OOo 2.0.4 from http://download.openoffice.org
Comment 3 wolframgarten 2006-11-14 10:30:14 UTC
Reproducible. But with off-turned proxies OO does not connect to the URL. The
slow performance is visible though.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
