Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6924
Open Office Writer and Calc seems to start and then close
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
When starting Open Office Writer or Calc, the openoffice logo appears, the next window frame is drawn, and then it abruptly closes. To access writer or calc documents, I had to open Math or Impress and then click on Open. OpenOffice seems able to run, but fail to start Writer and/or Calc. This strange behavior appeared abruptly 3 weeks after normal use. OpenOffice is on an intel-i686 Red Hat Linux 7.3 machine.
I don't see an installation issue here. OOo is running for a while, then something must have been changed that prevents these applications from starting. Please give a little more information what you are exactly doing.
Gonin, does this problem still occur on a reproducible basis? Could you please list the steps we need to take to reproduce this issue? Do you have any error logs or stderr output you can send us?
I'm sure that the user is running gnome and this is a duplicate to issue 4494 (I myself had the same problem) That this behaviour appeared 3weeks after installation is probably because Gonin installed/activated additional software (or updated gnome) so that either starting OOo takes a little bit longer or the session-management was activated/the purge-delay was modified. If this is not a duplicate to issue 4494, please reopen this issue and give as many information as you can get. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4494 ***
as stated before: If this one is not a duplicate to issue 4494 please reopen this issue and give any information you can think of being helpful. Thank you
