Description troodon 2006-08-23 23:26:04 UTC
1) Open a text document or a spreadsheet.
2) Write some text or select some cells.
3) Select a background color and/or a font color.
4) Move the cursor to another location.
5) Place the cursor in the previous location.
6) Click the background color and the font color buttons.

The character color drop down menu, always says that the automatic option is
select. The background color drop down menu always says that there is no
background color selected.

So there is no way of knowing what color of the menu is selected without opening
the character/paragraph properties dialog. And that's a problem when you're
dealing with similar colors.

SBA: Rainer is right. This is an enhancement and a duplicate of issue 61816.
Closed.

I think this isn't a dupe of issue 61816 because this refers to an already
inputted text and is only about the drop down menu (issue 61816 refers to button
showing a color and the typed text having anohter one).

This also applies to the font color button, not only the charater and background
color buttons.

I'm looking to the same behaviour as in MS Office 97/2000. See the attached
screenshot.
