Description jplubo 2006-08-09 21:41:20 UTC
Hi,

I'm producing and sending a lot of presentation documents , with many pictures
enclosed and I think it would be quite nice to implement inside Open Office a
command allowing the user to compress all the images in a document (while
keeping the .odp or .ppt format, the colleague receiving this document may have
to work on it too )

congratulations for all the work done on OO , although some improvements are
possible it is a wonderful office suite

I have written a Linux shell script for ODF (and SX*) compaction. This should
be able to take a lot off of a presentation with lots of images. I thought this
would be an easier option than a macro in OOo but that would also be possible so
long as the external programs that are required are also installed. All of
these programs are open source. If there is ever to be an option in OOo for
reducing file sizes, this might help:

Hi,

This 'compress image' button should be present in the image toolbar in all
applications not only in Impress.

We have some users making complex document with images ... and often very large
image ( 5megaPixel camera !!!). They reduce image size in OOo ....but image
weight is always the same .... making very heavy document. They don't know how
to use Gimp, or something like that, to optimise images ... so a
compress/optimize option will be really a good thing.... ( to reduce the image
to the size used in the document instead of the original size )...

It will be less painful for them to forgot this damned M...ft which has this
magic button.

Sorry for my english ... and many thanks for all your work...
