Description hwtan 2006-08-04 04:11:57 UTC
Currently, this is the situation (the following quotation taken from the help
file, under topic Tab Order).

"A radio button can only be accessed by the Tab key when the radio button is
selected. If you have designed a group of radio buttons where none are selected,
then the user will not be able to access the group or any of the radio buttons
by keyboard."

When I tried to record a macro, with find and replace, I find that in the
Format-Position-Position box, there is no default value set. Because of that,
since the Tab key is unable to access the group, there is no way of recording a
macro to superscript a character, for example.

My suggestion is that the default for position should be set to normal and for
the rotation should be set to 0 degree.

Can you provide illustrating screenshot?
Thanks.

"My suggestion is that the default for position should be set to normal and for
the rotation should be set to 0 degree."

On top of that, some other formating function may have similar situation, where
no default bullet is set. Since the Macro recorder is unable to record mouse
movement at this moment, and if we cannot access these bullets that without
default with the keyboard, there is no way that we record a macro utilizing this
function. Please look into it. Thank you.

The other function that is unaccessible at the moment is under the alignment
tab, under Text Format (search). See screen shot 2.

Unfortunately this connot be handled in a different way. The Radio Button groups
MUST be without default. Otherwise it would mean for the search, that only text
formatted with the "0° Rotation" or "Normal position" will be found; others will
be excluded. Having default settings i this case would interfere the "Search"
feature heavily.

Closed. Cannot be changed here.

mru,

Your good point noted. So, for the sake of macro recording, is it possible to
add a dummy button called 'no default' (or call it 'none') in these cases (and
of course setting it as default)? Would that solve the problems?
Comment 12 michael.ruess 2006-08-08 10:57:24 UTC
Maybe, but I am not sure if this will be done soon.
Reassigned to requirements.

I notice a more serious flaw in the current design. Once a bullet is selected in
the Format-Position-Position under the Find and Replace function, there is no
way to change it back to the default, ie, nothing selected. As mru had said,
"The Radio Button groups MUST be without default. Otherwise it would mean for
the search, that only text formatted with the "0° Rotation" or "Normal position"
will be found; others will be excluded. Having default settings i this case
would interfere the "Search" feature heavily."

The only way to get back to the state of "nothing selected" is to close and
reopen Writer, which is unacceptable. Thus, I hope that the option of 'all' as
the default be included as soon as possible
