Description toralf 2002-08-06 19:26:17 UTC
We are about to switch from ApplixWare, a.k.a. Anyware Office, to OpenOffice.
One major obstactle in the process is the lack of a good way to convert existing
documents, especially the word processor ones. Conversion via MS formats is
possible, but a lot of formatting is lost that way, so a direct path would be
very valuable.

Reassigned to Bettina.
Comment 2 utomo99 2004-04-20 10:27:24 UTC
ApplixWare, or Anyware Office is not popular office package, the user is not
so many. so investing to this format maybe is not good idea. as we have
limited developer to make OOo much better.
the next priority I believe is word perfect.
unless you can explain that there more user of ApplixWare, Anyware Office who
want to move to Ooo. and please remember that creating good filter is not so
easy.

reopen, utomo cannot assign or reject the assignment of Sun-ressources, but I
think that utomo is right in a way that Sun probably won't provide a filter. (so
that it probably will get closed Wontfix/worksforme again)

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

the bug was written in 2002 too old to matter
Comment 7 Rainer Bielefeld 2013-08-24 15:05:12 UTC
Still reproducible with AOO 4.0.0, no import filter available

a) I doubt that there is any significant interest for such a filter nowadays.
If somebody wants, he can create an extension, of course, but such a filter
will not be integrated into AOO
b) Competitors:
SoftMaker FreeOffice: My 1 year old Version does not support Applix import
Calligra: DOES support Applix import (I checked for "Words" and "Sheets")
