Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 67490
Math Symbol shown as rectangles in WORD2000 after saved as MS word
Last modified: 2006-07-24 13:27:06 UTC
math symbol such as ⊆,∈ become a square symbol ∅ after saved as MS office XP doc file.
@kennylee: Please attach 2 sample documents: - OOo File - exported WORD document Please contribute more precise information: - Where do you see those "∅" - in OOo or WORD? I did some own tests with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and WORD2000. Result: WORD2000 does not show correctly some special Math symbols in a document saved as .doc from OOo. The results are not really reproducible, I've got very different results opening exported documents with WORD2000: Sometimes all characters are shown as expected, sometimes some characters are replaced by rectangles, sometimes the same characters are replaced by question marks, it's strange. I am just trying to find out the system. Some first check: 1. Open new OOo WRITER document 2. copy / Paste report text to OOo document 3. save Document 4. Save document as WORD2000/XP 5. Close document 6. Reopen .doc with WORD2000 expected: Text as pasted should eb shown actual: Some rectangles instead of ⊆,∈,∅
Created attachment 37938 [details] OOo writer file with some math symbols
Created attachment 37939 [details] MS word file converted from OOo writer file
The problem occures an OOo file is saved as type "Mircosoft Word 07/2000/XP". I opened the saved doc file with Microsoft Word 2002, the math sumbols such as ⊆,∈ are replaced by rectangles. Attached 2 files, original OOo files and MS word files which is converted from OOo file with "File-> Save As".
