Reporting for m173, which appears as 2.0.3 in Help>About.

The autosaving process takes almost 55-60 seconds to finish. 

During this entire time, Writer becomes unresponsive. Worse, sometime the
process starts even when I am entering something, and steals focus. After a wait
of 1 minute, I have to carefully inspect which keystrokes go lost, and what's
the effect. 

The problem is complicated by the fact that I cannot type with all fingers while
looking at the screen. As a result, I don't usually come to know when the
autosaving starts all of a sudden, and keep on typing. As a result, a lot of
actions and entered data is lost. 

I am sure a lot of users would be facing the same problem as me.

It should be a background process and should start only when Writer is idle.

Therefore, please do not close this issue as duplicate (may be marked as

i can not confirm this here

just need 1 -3 seconds on a 30 page document

does this happen on a specific dokument? if yes can you send it to me?

Well, I am working on the same document, so I don't know. Probably large size is
the clue. Mine is 330 pages, >3MB size, with a lot of long tables, headings and
bookmarks. probably all that complexity causes the delay.

BTW just to compare note: The autosaving I am talking of looks same as normal
saving (It says "Saving document..." and then a status bar in the status line.)
But it launches automatically. (The user does not have to launch it).

The document is with mru (private-do not post).

Another difference is that the manual save operation saves the document; whereas
the autosave does NOT save it. (It saves only the temp file I suppose).

But even the manual saving takes almost the same time. So once you save the
document, Writer freezes for a minute and you have to wait.

This should not be so frequent, but thanks to frequent crashes, we have to save
our work frequently...
