Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6580
Word Processor "hangs" when tried to paste text from IE
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
I am using OpenOffice 1.0 with Windows2000 S.P.2. I tried to paste text copied from a web page displayed in Internet Explorer. The word processor "froze" and I had to use Task Manager to end stop the program.
(Parag Mujumdar , )9/11/02) Hello Everybody , I could replicate the bug mentioned , but with little variation in the procedure. I am using PIII system with windows2000 operating system. It does not cause any kind of problem in copy-pasting a plain text document from IE to word processor , on my system. The problem started occurring only when I tried to copy paste document with links , controls (such as text boxes , option boxes , etc. ) , plain text an images to word processor. Here is the simplified set of steps for replicating the bug : 1. Open OpenOffice word processor. 2. Open IE , with any webpage containing document with links , controls (such as text boses , option boxes , etc. ) , plain text and images. 3. Press CTRL+A for selecting all document. 4. Copy-paste in word processor. Bug : The word processor stop responding anymore and freezes. To close the word processor we have to go to the task manager and End task. Removing this bug is very essential as users can loose their unsaved data while copy-pasting information from web. Thank you
Jim, thanks for posting this issue. You can always try using the paste special, and paste the web page as unformatted text. Thank you for using and supporting OOo.
