Description ethanshore 2006-04-21 20:25:06 UTC
I've seen similiar issues but no resolutions. My document was working fine. It
is large with many tables. I udpated the table of contents and it hung. When I
tried to restore it seemed to think it was done correctly. However, the
document loads and 3 seconds later it hangs. Dead to the world. this was on XP

I tried it again on RedHat. It not only hung when I opened the document, it
shut down my entire vmware image.

I'm attempting to attach the document:

I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and can
confirm the problem. I opened the document, and in the first moment everything
seemed to work fine, but after I changed to WIN EXPLORER and back to the
document, OOo hanged - after 20 minutes I terminated OOo (still hanging) with
WIN Task Manager.

Unfortonately, no crash report has been created.
Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-04-22 08:37:43 UTC
I created an error report using 680m113, what showed the same hang with 100%
processor load as 2.0.2. I added a comment "This is a crash report for issue 64626"

The ID of the error report is rb54pf

MRU->FME: quite odd, when I select Tools.Update.Page formatting right after the
the document shows up, no Loop occurs. But when I open the document and then
leave it in idle formatting, it will loop a few seconds later.
Comment 5 ethanshore 2006-04-24 14:25:21 UTC
I was able to interrupt the loop by quickly telling it to export to pdf. Once
I saw it wasn't hanging I saved the doc to word format and moved over to
microsoft. I can't risk loosing this document again.

I have successfully replicated the bug with the file provided with my windows
environment Windows XP(SP2) with Open Office Version 2.0.3 and Linux red
2.6.9-42.0.3.EL.CSE.smp.

The reason of bug is when the file is in idle state it goes in a loop

Note : In Linux the system hangs in 10 to 15 sec and in windows 2 to 3 sec
Comment 8 frank.meies 2007-09-04 15:38:04 UTC
Loop does not occur anymore due to the implementation of some general loop
controls in the Writer layout engine, see issue 81146.
Comment 9 frank.meies 2007-09-10 13:38:21 UTC
fme->mru: Ready for QA.
Comment 10 michael.ruess 2007-09-17 11:11:30 UTC
Verified in CWS loopcontrol.
Comment 11 michael.ruess 2007-11-23 13:25:38 UTC
Checked fix in OO 2.4 dev build 680m237.
