Description Unknown 2002-07-17 07:08:08 UTC
I open OO Writer.
I make a new document with some few words.
I go into the File Menu, Send, as e-mail
I choose my Novell GroupWise profile.
The e-mail form appears and then, immediatly, OO crash with an error but
doesn't close !
From that time, the e-mail can't be sent, GroupWise can't be closed nor OO and
the system is quite unstable, as I can't normally shutdown or reboot the OS. I
have to make an hard reset or turn of the PC.

Hi Roland,

do you have configured "use default email client" in
"Tools->Options->External Programs"? If yes this means OOo tries to
send the email via MAPI. Under Windows 98 we discovered various
problems with the MS MAPI library. If you have an outdated version,
problems like crashes easily happen. Maybe you can try to send an
email with another application like WordPad for instance and see if it
crashes too. At least Version 5.1 under Windows XP has a "Send..."
button too. If this is no help you may install a newer version of
Outlook Express which brings a newer MAPI library with it (of course
no a nice solution).
I'm afraid we cannot do very much than that to fix the problem. It's
more a design problem than a bug (the bug lies in the MS MAPI library
on which we rely) the design problem is that we are using MAPI
in-process and so suffer from this kind of problems.

Kind Regards,
Tino

Hi Eric,

have to reject this task as I did before serveral times. There are
known problems with some versions of the MS MAPI library which we
cannot fix. Have a look at my comments to Roland (you may event want
to interview ATR about this). We can only make OOo more robust to this
kind of problems but that's or design problem that we could only
address in a greater time frame.

Kind Regards,
Tino
