Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64184
Actual Printed Top margin is less than Prefs top margin
Last modified: 2007-11-27 18:44:18 UTC
I am using OO Writer 2.0.2 on Windows XP Home SP2 to print labels on a single A4 sheet of labels. I have noticed a problem with OO where the top margin specified in the OO settings, does not get correctly sent to the printer. FYI, I am using a Canon Pixma iP5200 printer with the latest drivers. To reproduce: 1) Create new labels document by selecting File->New->Labels, and selecting Format "Sheet", Brand "Avery A4", Type "J8160 Address", followed by OK. 2) On the newly created document, enter a line of text on the first line of each label area, to be used as a test printout. 3) Print the label on an Avery A4 J8160 Address label sheet. PROBLEM: The test lines appear higher up on the printed label sheet than they should be, which causes them to not be printed on the correct label (or overlap the previous label). I have manually measured all the settings used for this label template and found them to be correct, but OpenOffice does not seem to send the correct top margin info to the printer, which results in it not positioning the label sheet far enough down. Microsoft Word 2000 has no such problems when printing these labels.
Reassigned to HI.
What about when you change the page format to A4 before printing?
Closing issue due to reporter's inactivity as WFM. Pls. feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem is still existing with a current stable OOo version.

I have the same problem when making labels Avery J8160 (= Herma 8632). The sizes (H:63.5mm, W:38.1mm, Topmargin:15.2mm) are correct in OOo writer (2.3 and 2.1 windows and 2.0 linux), but when the document is made, there is no(!) bottom margin (which should also be 15 mm). The total page height is not 297mm but less.
