When I save (50% of the time) the application crashes and I lose the file I was
working on.  This includes files that where saved to my hard drive that I opened
to edit.  No backup is found and I lose the complete file.

I'm currently using version 1.0.1 in WinXP and time to time the
spreadsheet program pops up with an error message, and after I get the
application to shut down, the file I was working on is deleted. Unlike
your case, its not when I've saving a file, but usually when I'm just
working on a spreadsheet. This has happened at least 3 times to me,
but I can't get it to happen consistantly. Its not dependent on one
spreadsheet file either, since I've had it happen to different sxc files.

Hi,

we have changed the saving process, so something like this should not
happen anymore.

The change is incorporated into OOo1.1 Beta.

So I close this one as fixed.
