Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 63375
Printing document A4 and Envelope C5 will mark both pages as C5
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:42:39 UTC
I insert an envelope C5 to an letter A4 (Menue "Einfügen" - "Briefumschlag"). By printing of this Document, both pages are C5. In the Print-File it has two Presribe-Commands "!R!spsz4;exit;". But the second must be "!R!spsz8;exit;" for changing to A4.

heinzbaer, do you still see this problem with OO2.2? Does it heppen with other printers? Does Writer show correct paper sizes in Print Preview and in Format - Page?

Do you still see this problem with OO2.2? When I create a new letter with an envelope, I can only print the envelop. Does it heppen with other printers? I have only a this Kyocera-Printer 1555. Does Writer show correct paper sizes in Print Preview and in Format - Page? The Writer show correct paper sizes. See new attachment C5.odt
Confirming with 2.2m7 on WinXP. Repro steps: Open attached "C5.odt" and send it to laser printer, specifying manual feed as paper source. Printer will request 216x356 mm paper size, feed A4, wait for printer to output the page and see how it requests 216x356 mm paper size _again_ , now to print the letter itself (even though second page is set to A4).
Forgot to mention - I used HPLJ 4250 to reproduce the problem.

I have make the changes in file C5a.odt. 1. If I choose in Writer the envelope and start the printout, I can only print the C5-envelope (see attachment C5_1.jpg). 2. When I choose the letter ans start the printout (see attachment C5_2.jpg), the envelope and the letter is printed, but both as C5.
I print on a laser SAMSUNG CLP-500. Original file C5.odt: Prints envelope from multi use tray. Tries to print letter from multi use tray too. Set tray explicit in the document: Envelope set to multi use tray, letter set to standard tray. Same, prints envelope fine from multi use tray, will print letter from multi use tray too. Set tray explicit in printer properties: Same behavior. In the printer settings I see, that OOo tells the printer a "user defined" format "29,7cm x 21,0cm" instead of telling DIN A4, and my Samsung printer cannot print "user definied" from standard tray.

If you print the file C5a.odt to a file (Printdriver Kyocera 1555), you see in the print-stream two prescribe-commands with the value "!R!spsz4;exit;". The first is tha format for the envelope (C5)and is right. The second is for the letter, and is with this value wrong. It must be !R!spsz8;exit; for A4. See Manual Prescribe on http://serviceworld.kyoceramita.de/files/Documentation/KYOCERA%20PRESCRIBE%20COMMANDS%20Command%20Reference.pdf and the PDF-Page 330.
HI->PL: Reproducible with our Brother printer - Set first page to Manual feed - Set second page to Tray1 - Print -> Print result of second page is not equal to screen. The printer seems not switch to the second page format.
If you use explicit trays, this is not really unexpected. Telling the printer paper format and tray is mutually exclusive: either it will choose the paper format from the right tray, or it will ignore the paper format and switch to the tray you selected. Envelope printing is a thorn in our side for a long time (see issues 55364, 4999, 17466), so I'll have a look. However I cannot promise to hold the 2.3 target.
Philipp, any chance you could also consider 29924? We will be thankful if you can make it for 2.3. Thank you very much!
This one seems to be windows specific; it seems some invalid default values get filled in from the printerdriver overriding the actually set C5 format.
fixed in CWS vcl78
please verify in CWS vcl78
SBA: Verified in CWS vcl78.
SBA->HI: Please re-verify and close, thx.
Still ok in OOo 2.3
