Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 63048
long document w/ footnotes in web view (online view): spurious page breaks
Last modified: 2006-03-13 23:04:39 UTC
When editing a long document (>50 p.) in Writer with many footnotes, (>80) web view breaks into two or more pages. FWIW, Web view should always be one long page only. With the attached document, this is reproducible on OOo 2.0.1 on Windows and Linux, and Neooffice1.2 on OSX. This is somewhat cosmetic, as it doesn't affect functionality or print-outs. It makes editing the document tedious though. Also note that this document was created and edited with version from 1.1.x thorugh 1.9.x to the current version. This might be related to some arbitrary limit in page size.
Created attachment 34753 [details] This document shows web view splitting into two pages. (swx or odt format doesn't matter)
Reassigned to ES.
Due to issue 38289 (PDF export needs smaller pages) we cannot have an endless page size.

One comment in issue 38289 says, "issue fixed, pdf-export switches now from web layout to normal layout. this is done in sw/ui/uno/unotxdoc.cxx." Seems to me to be the proper solution. So this reason doesn't seem to hold true any more. So why WONTFIX? Web layout should have an unlimited page length. Anything else is very irritating (I for one started looking for hard page breaks or something ). Note that just about any lengthy document exhibits this weirdness.
The request for a editing view without pagebreaks or page-margins is duplicate to the request for a "normal" view, as known from Word. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 4914 ***
