Description cheepee 2006-03-06 13:01:10 UTC
Hi
I'm working with open office writer 2.0.0. I tried the following:
-open a new document
-insert a footnote with changing Numbering: Automatic to Character and
selecting the space character " "
-save the document to RTF file
-reopen the document:
The text in the footnote disappear and the space character " " is changed
to "1".
My questions are:
1) Has someone an idea to keep the space character in the footnote with the
file extension "RTF"?

2) Does someone know an other way to keep text at the end of page like the
footnotes do?

***
Globally, I work on a VB6.0 project that integrate open office writer 2.0.0
and I need to have the possibility to send a paragraph at the end of a page
and to save the document in RTF format. So I had the idea to use the footnotes
but it doesn't work like I thought.
***

Thanks for answers.

I can't confirm. I'm using OOo 2.0.1, but when I save and reopen the footnotes
in the way you have described all the formatting is preserved, including using
the space character " " as a custom footnote character.

You are using the " " character simply to avoid having any character associated
with the footnote? Why not avoid footnotes altogether and just use a macro to
move the paragraph to the end of the document before a save occurs?
Alternatively, you could put text in the section footer, but this seems more
complicated.

If you need ideas I recommend you ask on the forums: http://www.oooforum.org/

Can you try this with 2.0.1 (Release version) or 2.0.2-RCx (one of the 2.0.2
release candidates) and report if you still have this problem? If so, please
attach the original document is odt format and the exported document in rtf
format for reference.

Thanks,

Steve

I also cannor reproduce the problem with OO 2.0.2. If you still experience the
issue with your documents, please attach such a sample file to this issue, so
that we can reproduce it here.
