Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6160
OO crashes blackbox
Last modified: 2003-03-13 11:12:56 UTC
i am running openoffice on a PII 350 running the 2.4.18 kernel with xfree86 4.2.0 and blackbox 0.65 alpha 8. OO crashes blackbox and x 3 out of 4 times on startup. with either the soffice or setup command the system freezes for about 5 seconds then x shuts down. repeated attempts eventually get it running, but it is still HORRENDOUSLY slow. just another random note OO looks for test in /usr/bin instead of the default /bin. although a simple symlink fixes this, it just adds to the frustration of frequent crashes and slooooooooooooow performance.
TM->CP/HR: Can you please have a look.
HR->TM: Regarding window magangers: please ask PL Regarding '/usr/bin/test': I've no idea who and for what reason hardcoded the 'test' shell utility in the soffice script (it has been in there before the source went Openoffice). I can only guess - maybe to prevent problems with the build in test utilities of historical shells. Anyway, it's not the right thing to do so, especially if you later just use the [ ... ] equivalent in the same shell script. Same thing with the setup startup skript. Please create sepearate issue and reassign to the owner of the shell scripts.
TM->PL: Can you please have a look at this issue ? Thanks !
Hi, Whats the status of the shell script issue WRT /bin/test? MacOSX port is running into this, and while its not too important, our 'test' isn't located correctly. Has an issue been filed to deal with the shell scripts yet? Dan
TM->PL: Still any new knowledges about this problem ? Please have a look, thanks !
Does it happen with other WM's too ? "Horrendously slow" is a bit subkective, can it be that it begins to swap first and then you are running out of swap space ? This would more or less randomly kill processes.
cannot reproduce the blackbox problem, but i'll change the scripts
script changed in CWS vcl04
pl->obr: fixed in conjunction with issue 10342
Damn stupid task handling.
Verified on Solaris sparc and Linux x86.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details.
