Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6109
Word processor crashes X server (X IO Error)
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
it's wierd. i was able to edit much of my document, up to a certain point. it did crash the X server several times (but not consistently) when i would hit Alt-i, Alt-., <Enter> (to make a footnote). for some reason, i thought this problem had something to do with icons. it started crashing so much that i put in file-saving every 1minute, and with a backup. then, i got to a certain point in the document where i simply can no longer open up the document without crashing the X-server. yes, i can start OpenOffice. But then, if I File | Open | < file>, boom! it crashes everything immediately. the URL included in this bug will have relevant outputs.
btw i am running redhat 7.3, with all updates applied. (gnome 1.4, w/ sawfish w/m, etc.) i also put the document i'm having problems with at same URL.
Jeff, does this problem still exist with OOo 1.0.1?
i have indeed upgraded to 1.0.1 and i have also updated my jvm to 1.4.1. i am still using rh7.3 linux with all patches (rpm updates) applied. i am no longer experiencing this problem.
1.0.1 seems to fix this problem.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
