Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 6010
Add ablility to Print/Preview OLE indepent
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:47:42 UTC
There doesn't appear to be any way to print/preview a chart independently of the sheet. This would allow you to have a bunch of charts anywhere on the sheet and print them without a load of formatting to get them to fit a page.
Hi Falko, 1 4 u Frank
Set to "NEW"
.
Add the menu entry "Print" to OLE obejects context menu. This should allow to print each OLE object independent from its master document.
Would the "Print" feature that you are proposing adding to the ole objects context menu feature allow for "print preview" and "fit to page"?
Created attachment 30140 [details] Screenshot that demostrates problem
Sorry I placed that attachment (ooowriter.jpg) on the wrong issue. I'd delete it but I don't see a way.

Hi Ingrid, I will reassign this issue to your owner, please take over. I'll also CC Matthias.
Retarget 3.0? :)
Ok, thanks Bettina, but have to give this issue to the framework people, because I can not or should not implemented it for chart only I think. -> Mathias, please take over, thanks.

changed summary to contain 'chart' as many users are interseted in printing charts.

changing target - seems to be a very useful feature that shouldn't be so hard to implement. In most cases it should be enough to print the replacement image we have anyway.

target 3.0
needs UI change -> 3.1
Taking the task and setting the target to 3.x for now.
I print just a single chart many times a day. It would be nice if it was less time consuming. A right-click option would be ideal
This issue is the only reason I still use Excel for anything.
New standalone issues to handle chart and starmath are opened in issue 100298 and issue 100299 respectively, summary changed to general OLE purpose.
I can't believe this issue has been open for 8 years. It seems like such a simple feature to implement, and it's the single missing function preventing my complete switch to OpenOffice. I need to print 5-10 full page graphs each week for lab reports, and it's just too much fuss and bother to copy, paste, resize, adjust page formatting, etc. for each one.
(In reply to comment #25) > I can't believe this issue has been open for 8 years. I'll second that! Of course it's now been open for 9 years, 2 months and 6 days. Astounding. This is one of those little issues that makes M$ office seem more professional than OOo, we really must get this fixed very soon.
Being the originator of this request and due to the seemingly demise of OOo, I have entered this feature request at the LibreOffice bugzilla. Please create a user there (if you haven't already) and attach yourself to the request. It is very likely that nothing will happen to this request here at apache. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45893
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
