I've had a fair number of problems with open office crashing or otherwise
exiting before I'd saved.  The auto-save feature is useful, but I still have
lost significant editing work which is difficult to redo (you forget what you
added where and why.)

It is probably darn hard, but keeping track of what has been done since the last
save and keeping that information in a file would be very useful.  (just like MS
word does...)

In issue 2880, it is even mentioned to save all changes when the
system crashes.
