Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 59932
WW8: graphics placed wrong due to different wrap algorithm
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:17:38 UTC
The layout of this document is completely messed up when opened in OpenOffice.org 2.0 for Windows, or NeoOffice 1.2 Alpha. The attached file problem.zip contains the word document (original.doc), the view in Microsoft Word (msword.png), and the view in OpenOffice.org Writer (writer.png).
Created attachment 32817 [details] problem.zip containing original.doc, msword.png, writer.png
I verify this problem with OOo 2.0.1. I then saved the document as ODT (OpenDocument) and quickly managed to fixed the layout to match the original screenshot. It worked really well. I then saved as .doc and tried to view with MSOffice (roundtrip). The layout was in a worse situation from what OOo was in earlier. That is, the roundtrip appears not to work. Is this an issue with MS withholding the details of the Office document formats? My short term solution with these issues is to save as ODT (OpenDocument) and manually fix the layout. Then, keep the documents as ODT.
MRU->OD: it looks that the graphics are misplaced due to slightly different wrapping algorithm. Most of the graphics are anchored to the first paragraph; in Word the paragraph is placed below the graphic, in OO Writer right of the graphic. When making the graphic wider in OO, it will look much better.
adjust target milestone to OOo 2.x
according to release status meeting -> 3.x
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
