Description vvucic 2005-12-16 10:29:18 UTC
When .tif file that is created by digital copy machine and sent as E-mail
attachment is opened in draw it does display only bank page though the same file
when opened by faxviewing software does have three pages.
When the sma e file is Inserted as Picture/from file in Writer it displays
correctly the firts page but not other two. I suppose rading tags with number
of pages and compression is not correct.
The same file is openned correctly By ImageMagick and Faxviewer.
Thanks,

Vedran Vucic

I checked with "2.0.1 RC4 German version WIN XP: [680m145(Build8989)]" and can
confirm the problem.
If I insert attached tif in a DRAW page, I only see a completely transparent
object. When I change object to "Meta File", content becomes visible.
Same result if I open "0175_001.tif" directly from WIN-Explorer with OOo.

Also checked with "1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]", there it works
without problem.

If I copy-paste the image from Corel Draw, the content is visible in OOo.

Irfan View told me "This is not a valid TIFF file".

WIN fax-viewer also shows transparent object.

Strange: Gimp 2.2 shows a hand written number "3" instead of the hand written n
umber "1" I see with all other applications.

Seems to be a strange tif.

.tif file that I sent is file created by digital copy machine that is capable of
sending faxes over Internet. Such a .tif file is normally displayed by
Faxviewer software in GNU/Linux. But, oodraw does not display it at all, and
oowrite displays usually only first page. Thus, it i snot strange file, I
think that oodraw and oowrite do not read properly tags that say that file is
compressed as usually fax .tif files are and that there is tag which says that
it is multi-page file. I suppose that this is the point with Gimp and oowriter
and oodraw.

Thanks,

The file that I sent does have three pages and on each is handwritten number 1,
2 or 3 respectively. Thus, number you see is actually the page of file.

Thanks,

We should show the first page at least...
Comment 7 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-04-15 15:17:42 UTC
I am pretty sure that that's the same prolbem as in STARTED issue 9193. Can
someone please check and decide which one should DUP of which other one?
