Description palecekj 2005-12-07 13:30:25 UTC
Opening the attached document takes very looooong time and it seems not to
open at all -- I've tried to open it and after ~10 minutes there was no reply.

BTW This document crashes kword but opens (with messed up formating) in abiword.

Confirm freeze on OOo 2.0.1rc1 Linux RPMs. During first few minutes, import
progress bar moved slowly. Then, it seemed to stop. Gave up after some 5 minutes.

The 63-page document opens quickly in Word 2000, and I see the document uses a
very long table.
Comment 4 lohmaier 2005-12-07 18:01:19 UTC
removing crash-keyword since OOo doesn't crash, but just takes a while to open
the file. So this is a performance problem.

Nevertheless, I think the original document is broken or non-standard. From my
point of view OOOo does a better job rendering the file than word-viewer does.

See attached screenshot.

Removing ms_interoperability-keyword as well since that one is reserved for
thinks you can do in MS-Office but can't do in OOo and vice-versa, not for bugs
during import/export.

#########
Summary: It takes (very) long to open the document, but when opened OOo does a
better job rendering the file than word Viewer 97.
I suspect the file was generated by a third-party application

MRU->FLR: problem is that the document consists of one large table (about 50
pages) which contains many more or less large nested tables. I think this is
linked to issue 25680 (implement support for nested tables from Word format)
which might solve also the performance problem in such cases.

Any progress correcting this issue? cause it's becoming critical working with
large table sets with OO. (GoOO 3.2m13 is also affected)
Comment 11 openoffice 2010-04-27 08:12:37 UTC
The target is set to OOOLater. Thus, no work on this issue for the coming
version is intended. Try getting people to vote for the issue to promote it.
