Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5856
Document trouble - XML trouble?
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:54:52 UTC
Troubled document available for further checkup according to url. Document suddenly not possible to open. Have pasted several pictures into document. Only system change was install of MS Office 2000. Error code: "Read-Error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 2,14635 (row, col)." Due to? o Fatal error in xml-definition? Possible? o Possible to retrieve text-contents? (please) Suggestion! o xml-consistency where content is "king" and possibility to open "bad" documents for partial retreival? Thanks! o You guys are doing a very good job!!! :-)
I finally found information on the OpenOffise file-format. So, I opened the document (unzipped it!) and found what I was looking for - a readable file-structure with documents. The error message in my report tolt me that the document could not be loaded based on information at a specific place in the content file. I found this place. The XML-code referred to a specific picture. This picture was by inspection corrupted. Removed the reference, zipped the files - the file was restored! The problem which should be adressed is the information from error- messages, and the possibility to load files, even with minor errors and then reparing them. One question also remaining is how the picture-file got corrupted. Hpoe this is sufficient to further deal with the problems.
This is issue fixed already and should be available in the current OOo build. The reason was a duplicate draw:name attribute. Removing it makes the file loadable again.
