Description tsehungtin 2005-11-03 15:34:23 UTC
Please have a look
at the attached DOC.
The open round bracket
appears smaller than other
characters on the same line.

Reassigned to SBA.
Comment 3 lohmaier 2005-11-08 00:17:35 UTC
confirming on linux.

The left bracket "(" is formatted in Times New Roman in OOo whereas the closing
bracket is formatted with 新細明體;PMingLiU

The bracket in Times new roman is not as round as the one from PMingLiU.

When the same file is opened in WordViewer 97, both brackets are rendered using
the PMingLiU-Font.

(the bracket is not much taller, but much wider than the one OOo displays)

Does this happen when you type in OOo, too? I have just tried to create such a
file with Korean (another CJK language), and both brackets are drawn in
TimesNewRoman... Just a thought: is the document formatted correctly?

SBA: Obviously, the "weak character" left bracket is handled differently from
what Word does. When looking at the document, it is clear that the brackets both
"belong" to the chinese string in the middle. Unfortunately, documents are a
"stram of data" and no charcacter can tell "don't process me yet, wait for the
next one and think again" :-)

SBA->hbrinkm: Document looks as expected in Word. So the import should do a
similar "wait and think again" or something like that when different script
types come in one document in this way.
Please proceed.
