the first start of spellcheck generally hangs the word processor.  the problem
does not seem to reoccur when the application is restarted, the same document is
opened and the spellcheck is started anew.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
