Description Unknown 2002-06-10 10:55:29 UTC
I want to be able to use the same key-bindings as in EMACS. MS Word can be
instructed to do so with a VBA macro (http://rath.ca/Misc/VBacs/index.shtml),
but I could not install that macro into OO. The macros would run, but have no
effect on the key-bindings.

SBA: Being able to run a Word macro will probably not solve the
problem. Running Word macros (instead of importing and exporting them
"untouched" as it is now) is already known as feature wish. So that
would be "duplicate". I don't know if there's already an Issuezilla
ID, but it's a well-known interoperability feature and at least in
StarOffice's internal feature list.

With OpenOffice, one can configure "whatever" key bindings/shortcuts
and save them within a document. IMHO this is a very convenient way to
enable a lot of people to use "once set" configuration settings. But,
yes, one has to do this work once before the rest of the world can
enjoy...

SBA->TM: "Worksforme"?

The Submitter (unable to access OO.org issue tracker for some reason)
wanted to add this...

OK. But I don't see a way to bind ALT in conjunction with other keys.
And without the ALT keybindings, there will not be much like EMACS
keybindings at all.

In addition, is it possible to assign operations to the press of keys
in two-steps as e.g. C-x, C-s for save in EMACS?

The word macro in question did both of these things. So even if the
method of using a word macro is not the best, I still want the
possibility to bind keys as above even if I have to do it manually.

TM->BH: Due to the fact, that this one is a feature request, please
have a look. Thanks !

I cast another feature request vote for use of Alt. Ctrl+ is good,
and Ctrl+Shift+ is not too bad, but nowhere near as convenient as Alt+.

I agree! Being able to type a single key to:
change the word in front of the cursor to upper or lower or leading caps
swap letters
swap words

is something I do many times a minute. Having to highlight a word and then hit
a key is sooo slow and awkward in comparison.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
