The spellcheck is causing OpenOffice to crash. 90% of the time it crashes when I select
"ignore all". 1% of the time it crashes when I select "ignore". I cannot find a particular case
were it always fails. It appears to be random. The application does not crash, but
rather it sits busy for a long period and does not return. Windows 2000 says the
application is "not responding". The Linux version does not appear to have the same problem.

Hi,

Please see Issue 4502. I think this is exactly the problem you are
having.

Luckily this issue is fixed for the upcoming OOo 1.0.1 release.

As a workaround please try turning on and leaving on AutoCheck for
spelling and then use the right mouse button to get suggestions for
those words you think need it.

Hope this helps,

Kevin
