Java Media Framework autodetection

Java Media Framework should be detected automatically. OpenOffice.org ignores both environment variables JMFHOME and CLASSPATH. If I set JMFHOME and start OpenOffice.org, Media Player can't play multimedia files. If I add jmf.jar to the CLASSPATH variable, same behavior. If I want to have working Media Player, I have to add the jmf.jar via Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Java - ... It doesn't sound like user friendly solution. Media Player should display a dialog with information about missing JMF.
