Description vogella 2005-10-04 10:14:16 UTC
Hallo,

If I open a huge master document and tell the system to "update all links" to
the subdocuments then all documents are blocked until this master document has
been opened. With large documents this can take minutes.

I believe it would be more convenient for the user if only the master document
is blocked while the user can still work on other already open documents.

Best regards, Lars

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2005-10-06 13:19:44 UTC
I cannot reproduce it.
Please attach a sample document.
I guess this has not a lot to do with master document but with the loading
process in general.
Comment 3 vogella 2005-10-06 22:10:34 UTC
Correct, it has to do with the loading process in general not specific with the
master document. It only becomes more visible during a huge master document.
Currently I avoid attaching a master document with huge documents which are
included, as I don't believe they are required If again requested I will upload.

ES->MBA: it's about multi-threading, isn't it? ;)

This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated
within the last year. Please re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo -
the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable
version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing):
http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/

Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be closed or progressed as
necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also

advanced further :

I believe the issue is clear, OO does currently not support multi-threating. If
I have one document open and open another document then the first document
should not be locked anymore.

Has this be changed with OOo 3.beta?

This issue is in the state of 'new' so I would assume that this hasn't been
fixed yet.

Also me understanding but the following comment from ace_dent confused me:
