The entire Windows UI lost all concepts with grey screens, parts of images showing up all over the place (for example, the start button suddenly appeared in the upper left corner (normally in the lower left corner))..

Enough to scare the crap out of anyone...

Hello Geir,
I've had no problem like this.
I guess it might be problem with your graphic device, specially the driver. For example: We know about problems at office start with matrox driver.
Be so kind to try a newer or (if you use the newest version) older version.
