Description odd_bloke 2005-09-10 21:21:10 UTC
At apparently random intervals, Impress segmentation faults when switching
between slides while in editing mode. This is using an *.odp file (though the
presentation in question was initially a PowerPoint document). The error when
run at the command line reads:
/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice: line 164: 1249 Segmentation fault
    "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open presentation.
2) Do some editing.
3) Choose a different slide in the left-hand pane.

Expected result:
Switch to that slide.

Actual result:
Crash with following at CLI:
/usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice: line 164: 1249 Segmentation fault
    "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"

@odd_bloke:
Which Linux distribution are you using? What is the source of your RPMs? Did
you get the RPMs from your distribution?

FC4, and this would have been the most recent update from the standard yum repos.
Comment 7 aziem 2005-12-08 23:31:40 UTC
odd_bloke: There is a serious "random" crashing problem with Fedora's OOo since
2.0.0. Redhat's Bugzilla states the problem may be an optimization bug in GCC
4. Could you test with an official OOo RPM from http://download.openoffice.org ?

Please tell me if you can reproduce the bug also in the 'official' OOo build or
only in the FC4 OOo.
Please send a crash report and tell me the email adresse you entered and the
'header' or the date you send the report.
If I don't get more information I must close the issue as works for me.

I close the issue as works for me.
If you can still reproduce the bug in the latest OOo version please reopen the
issue and tell me the email adress you entered in the crash reporter. I need the
email adress to find the crash report.
