Description js181096 2005-09-02 20:02:37 UTC
Some new trouble with automatic checkbox on subscript/superscript tab.

What I do:
-I go to a Possition tab to make my text subscript/superscript.
-I choose one of those two bullets (sub/superscript).

The size field stays enabled (I can change it's value and it will have effect)
even though the automatic check box is by default checked.
I'm ussing OO 1.9.122.

I can replicate this behavior, but I don't know OO well enough to know if it is
a bug.

OO version 1.9.125
Windows XP SP-2 all current (9/19/05) patches applied

In either Writer or Impress, create a document, type "Text", select "Text", go
to the Format menu, select Character. In the Character dialog, click the
Position tab and click on SuperScript.

At this point, "Raise/lower by" is set to 33% and greyed out. Beside it is
"Automatic", checked.

Below the Raise/Lower control is an ungreyed-out "Relative font size", with a
value of 57% that I can change.

As a user who is not familiar enough with the specification, I would expect
Raise/lower to be grayed out (because it is beside "automatic") but I would not
expect Relative font size to be greyed out because it is not obviously within
the scope of "Automatic".

I am confirming the described behavior using OO2.2 on WinXP.
I think this is correct behavior, but I will leave this decision to developers.

SBA->PB: I had a look with OS on the dialog controls in question.
There are several questions and inconsistencies concerning
 - default values (super- / sub-)
 - behavior when a checkbox disables a spinbox
 - behavior when superscript and subscript gets selected, dialog is closed and
reopened.

Given the short hints in the online help, it is not exactly intuitive for the
user what happens and why.
Please contact me so that we can have a look together.
