Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 54109
Printing to other than default printer ignores "Document Modified" selection
Last modified: 2014-07-24 12:42:18 UTC
Writer, and possibly other components, ignores the setting for "Printing sets 'Document Modified' status" when a document is sent to a printer other than the default printer. I have observed this behavior in Win98SE and SuSE9.x/KDE/CUPS. In my LAN configuration, one printer is connected to a printer port on the router/switch. The other has its own network (tcp/ip) interface. I make this distinction because the behavior may not be exhibited with shared printers connected to the computer printer ports. Near each printer are similarly configured PCs. The default printer setups normally point to the printer physically closest to each PC. It doesn't matter which computer or printer is being used or which printer is selected to be "default" for either computer. When the document is printed to the "default" printer, operation follows the setting in Tools>Options>General. When a document is sent to the "other" (non-default) printer, the document modified status is always set and the warning message pops up when closing the file.

HI -> FME: Please take over. It seems to be designed this way since many years. Set to P4 and OOo Later.
FME: The problem here is this: A document has a printer name associated with it. Printing to a printer different from the printer which is set at the document has the same effect as changing the printer in the "Printer Settings" dialog, i.e., the document is modified. This behaviour is discussable.
Not sure if this is relevant or helps..in AOO 4.1.0 I have built an API in java that runs the mmservice over a document. In the java program I set the printer name to one of 7 printers we have on the network depending on which forms I want the document to print on. This worked OK in 3.1.1 - now everything goes to the default printer which is a show stopper.. To test that the document printer has actually changed - I can right click a document>print and the document goes to the correct printer..If I use mmservice the change to the number of copies works ok - but the output mailmerg goes to the default printer even though the output printer has been changed. It appears that this was fixed as it worked in 3.1.1 - I've tested it on 3.4.1 and it does not work - and of course on 4.1.0 it still does not work. Finally should I create a new bug report for this.. Thanks Kevin
