Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5377
Update Template Causes Crash
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:31 UTC
To repeat: 1. Go to: File | Templates | Organize 2. Click on the Default folder (or any other template on the left side.) 3. Drag the Default folder to the right. 4. An Unrecoverable Error occurs and OO.org crashes.
Thanks for the good post Brian. I was able to reproduce your issue. Reproduced on a stock workstation install of RedHat 7.3.
works for me with build 643
Brian, can you test to see if this issue has been fixed in OOo 1.0.1? Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, RH OOo 1.0.1. Unable to duplicate on RH 8.0, OOo 643.
I had a little trouble (at first) reproducing this in 1.0.1, but eventually got it to do the same unrecoverable error and crash every time. Here's what I did: I couldn't get the simple drag of the Default Folder to the right window to cause a crash initially. So, I created a new template folder "Untitled" and moved a template into that folder (by selecting Template at the bottom of both windows and then dragging it to the right). Now I can get a crash every time by taking this template in Folder Untitled and trying to drag it UP (within the SAME window) back to the Default Folder. Also, strangely, I cannot figure out how to get that template back into the original Default folder at all, as dragging from left to right (or vice versa) gives an error that does not result in a crash. It says there is an error moving the template "Untitled" (which is the folder name, not the template name!) even though I've selected only the template within the folder Untitled. (Perhaps this should be a separate bug.) I am using SuSE 8.0 and KDE 3.0.4 on a PC.
SBA->PB: I think you already work on this one. I don't know the ID, sorry. Reassigned to Peter.
Issue 3882 sounds like it's the same problem as this bug. Judging by the date in that issue, it should have been resolved before 1.0.1 was released.
Duplicate to issue# 3882. Look at the filelist in the comment. You have to update these files to fix the bug. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3882 ***
I see the files listed in issue 3882, they are: svtools/inc/svlbox.hxx 1.6 svtools/source/contnr/svlbox.cxx 1.9 sfx2/source/doc/docvor.cxx 1.19 but I don't understand exactly what I do to "update" these. Are new versions of these files available online somewhere, and should I copy them over old ones on my hard drive? (I haven't looked to see if I even have such files as part of my OO.org installation.) This seems like an old issue. Why isn't it automatically fixed in 1.0.1? (This happened to me on another bug I reported. It was "fixed" but not part of the latest OO.org download. It seems to an uninformed user like a lot of "fixed bugs" should be truly fixed by making the fixes part of the latest version. But I admit I don't really understand the process.)
Hi Brian, sorry, you can use the filelist (a list of source files) only if you have the facility to build your own OpenOffice, otherwise you have to wait for the next official OOo download (I think 1.0.3).
