Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5339
Enhanced tooltips for buttons with multiple functions
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:38:17 UTC
Throughout the OOo applications you have toolbar buttons that a marked with a small green triangle. That tells the user that when you click on the button and hold down the mouse button several new options will be presented. That's good. I think it would be even better that the tooltip would show the current setting of the button. For example the 'New' button to create a new document. When the tooltip shows up it could say 'New - Text document' or 'New - Table document' instead of only 'New'. I know that the button picture itself changes accordingly to the function, but a tooltip would make it more clear. Especially when you consider all the other buttons with a green triangle.

In my opinion this issue is still valid for the actual version 2.4 and should be considered in a future version of OOo. PS: In OOo 2.4 it is not a green triangle anymore, but an arrow at right side of the button.
Set version back to original value.
