Description walti 2002-05-23 22:38:15 UTC
Using Informix ODBC (CLI-SDK) to access informix 9.30 tables from calc,
I can't see the list of tables into the DB but I can access the table
entering its name in the combo box.
Same problem with Informix 7.31 here.
It works with M$ office, VB and Staroffice 5.2
Conversely, ooo works fine with e.g. Mysql ODBC interface,so the problem
is related to the tuple Informix ODBC <> Openoffice
Any hints?

Walter,

What does the data source browser (F4 in a Calc/Writer document) tell
you about the tables? Are they visible there? Same question for the
data source administration dialog (Tools/Data Sources): Are your
tables visible there?

Additionally, what exactly do you mean with "access the table in the
combo box"? Don't know Calc very well, but I'm a real fan of the
"philosophy" do submit bugs which can be reproduced by everybody, not
only by people with previous knowledge. Means: please describe in more
detail what you are doing in Calc, so readers do not need to start
guessing :).

thanks :)

Walter, can you please add some more info to this bug and clarify the
things I mentioned in my previous comment? This would be helpfull in
understanding what you are doing.
I assign this bug to you to get your attention on this :), please
assign it back to our QA people (msc@openoffice.org) afterwards.

Thanks
Frank

Hello people, I think my previous reply did't hit the list.
In facts, what I want to remark is that
wherever you expect a list of tables, you didn't get it.

This is the same in Data source browser, in administration dialog and
into the calc combo box I talked about, the one that allows you to put
data in a sheet, using Datapilot.

Moreover, the problem is _really_ an Informix ODBC <> OOo one, because
with Openlink ODBC drivers and the same Database it works flawlessly
OTOH Informix ODBC works fine with other ODBC frontends,
like M$ Access, excel, etc.

The problem is absolutely reproducible in all cases, I think,
but I can only speak for the Italian version of OOo on Win2K

BTW, using JDBC connector from Informix is OK

I'm available for any test you need.

Hello People,
I didn't receive any news regarding this issue.
I've more new issues on Informix/JDBC/ODBC and I'm ready to make
all tests the community needs.
Please give a bit of feedback, thanks.

Ocke, any idea about this?
Comment 6 ocke.janssen 2002-10-16 13:40:35 UTC
Hi Walter,

the problem may be that your driver supports version 2 of ODBC and not
ODBC3, one solution may to use the newest driver from
http://www.informix.com/evaluate/
perhaps this helps.

Best regards,
Ocke

PS: We couldn't test it here because we haven't any Informix server
available.

Hi Marc,

please have a look at this one. Thx.

Best regards,

I have the same problem when using the Easysoft ODBC-Interbase driver
on a Windows 2000 PC with OpenOffice 1.0.2:

When opening a database (using "View | Data Sources"), and then
clicking on the little + sign next to the "Tables" entry the list of
all tables in the database does not appear.

With the Gemini ODBC-Interbase driver this problem does not occur.

By the way: this issue appears to be similar to issue 1653

Comment 13 Mechtilde 2010-06-05 09:53:29 UTC
is it still a value issue?
