Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5204
Embedded Excel chart badly sized
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:54:41 UTC
I have a Powerpoint presentation created using MS Office 2000. Several of the slides contain embedded charts created using MS Excel. When I display the slides in Powerpoint the charts look fine. When I display them in OpenOffice, the charts are badly sized, i.e.I see just an oversized chunk of the chart. I can send you a ZIP of the presentation (c 870 kb)to try this out. Many thanks, Des Atkinson, Metron Technology Limited, desa@metron.co.uk

Changed to new.
I can see the bug in the attached document but I can't create a new document with the same behavior. Please have a look if this is your issue or if it's from the calc.
This bug is an Excel import problem and it happens only if you are converting Excel OLE objects to our own Calc objects. It seems that our Excel filter has a problem with importing the correct view window. If Excel OLE objects remain in their original format, all graphics are ok. The behaviour how OLE objects are handled can be changed under tools/options/load&save/Microsoft Office. Up from OpenOffice version 1.01 this problem should not happen by default, because we changed settings, so that embedded OLE objects are not converted and remain in their original format.
Des Atkinson, 14 August 2002: Sven Jacobi's workround is good. As the underlying issue is fixed in Release 1.01, I am happy for the issue to be closed.
target->OOo1.0.2
DR->OC: Correct sheets are shown now, i.e. slides "Web Server Market Share" or "Server Shipment by Type". Still wrong size of the charts, because we do not support "Chart on entire sheet" and therefore a chart does not resize to its parent window.
