Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 51903
File Locking enabled by default causes problems in NFS
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:41:22 UTC
By default, the 2.0 versions come with SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING enable. This is great for local file systems, but on NFS they tend to crash OOo. Later NFS versions - 4.0 - support file locking with lockd, I think it's better to have some kind of code to use this, instead of using it by default and causing crashes.
TM->requirements: Having file-locking enabled by default is not a bug. That this can lead to crashes wasn´t reproducible. A change in the file-locking feature or it´s implementation might be a wish for an enhancement, so please have a look.
This bug is reproducable in a lot of OpenOffice (beta) 2 versions on Suse 9.3 and Suse 10. It can be reproduced on Suse 10, with OpenOffice 2.0.0-0.2 (installed with apt),
