Description stefan_koehler 2005-06-27 09:53:50 UTC
When inserting a graphic in the master view, positions for X and Y are not set
to 0cm (X=0,12cm, Y=0,15cm in my case). As a result, all imported graphics must
be placed manually.

I can't reproduce the bug.
Please attach a document and/or write me a step by step description to reproduce
the bug.

Ok, here goes:

1. Open a new file in Impress
2. View | Master | Masterview
3. Insert graphic
4. Check position and size, it's always 0,13cm for Postition X and 0,15cm for
Position Y, see atached file

I use the German version, so perhaps my naming is not quite correct.

Cheers
Stefan

Comment 5 christian.guenther 2005-06-30 10:17:39 UTC
I can reproduce the bug.
I created 2 graphics. One has the same size like the slide, one is a little bit
bigger then the slide.
when I insert the graphics the upper left corner is not on Position 0,0.
You can see a smal white boarder.
Please have a look.

Hi,

new evidence. The imported graphic is not placed in relation to the document at
all but relative to the workspace. If you zoom a new document to 200%, insert a
graphic and zoom back to optimal, it is placed at a rather weird position indeed.
So graphics should be placed in relation to the relevant document and the user
will be happy.

Stefan

This is no bug, it is a feature, when inserting a graphic it is placed in the
middle of the actual view, additional the size of the graphic will be decreased
so that it is at no circumstances bigger than the actual page and the actual view.

If it is reasonable to change this behavior should be discussed by user experience.

I, see. Not a bad feature, but not working as it should.

The inserted graphics are not placed exactly in the middle of the document so
there always remains a small offset which must be corrected. Whether this
behavior appears because the workspace is not centered or because the graphic is
not set correctly is beyond my understanding. To make it short, if graphics were
really placed in the exact center of the workspace, that would surely be a good
thing, but at the moment they are not.

Stefan
