Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50681
Address-Book Datasource Wizard must allow user to specify addressbook location
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:37:42 UTC
THIS IS A FOLLOW-ON TO BUG#20088 Because I do m lot of testing, I have both nightly Thunderbird for myself, release Thunderbird for the rest of the family, and Mozilla-Suite because apt keeps re-installing. The wizard gets to where I select the choice "Mozilla/Thunderbird Address Book", then it completes. The resulting datasource is EMPTY. My address book is the one that my nightly Thunderbird has been pointed to. That is NOT being picked up. Instead of trying to be "too clever by half," please allow the user to browse for a directory / address-book file.
Hi, I reassign it to the User Experience Team for evaluating. Bye Marc
I had the same problem just now. I configered the Thunderbird adressbook several times, but no etries showed up. Queit some time later, I realized, that there is still a Mozilla Suite installation. And since the automatic created account in mozilla is allways named "default", OOo 2.0 opend this Adressbook, instead of the Thunderbird one... So there is a workaround -> rename the profiles, than OO can separate them. But in long terms there should be implemented a better solution. I think it would be ok, when the addresswizard of OO2 REALY looks (only) in the thunderbird Profile folder, and not in the mozilla suite profile folder.
Hi, Just wondering if the user experience team has had anything to say on this. There seems to be a good number of people that are having this problem, mostly do do with multiple profiles. Personally, I was fine with connecting to Thunderbird. However, just downloaded Sea Monkey and now I cannot get to the old thunderbird data. I can not figure out how to tell Base where to find particular profiles - unless this is just a case of missing documentation it seems a quite real issue.
colebantam > atjensen: Just look one post ago: "So there is a workaround -> rename the profiles, than OO can separate them. But in long terms there should be implemented a better solution." In your case, if the Seamonkey Profile doesn't contain important data -> delete it and create a new one (Profile Manager), but with a name that differs from " default"... Then you can separate the profiles in OOo 2.0.x Btw, if this issue is important to you, vote for it!
I am having similiar problems... I have a number of different address books in Thunderbird-1.5.0.7 (running on Slackware Linux 11.0) and OpenOffice.org-2.0.4. When I open the data address book wizard it connects and says: 'The external data source you have chosen contains more than one address book. Pleas select the one you mainly want to work with." That's ok but then it lists only: Collected Addresses Personal Address Book And none of my other address books show up! The addresses books are in ~/.thunderbird/{salt}.default/ in abook-1.mab through abook-10.mab So how can I connect to any of my other address books? Thanks - Chuck Bell
