Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50402
Document with embedded font(?) prints incorrect font
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
A Word document, when printing it in MSWord it's ok, when printing it in OOo (1.9.107) a strange font appears. I heard about embedded fonts in Word documents, maybe that's the problem here? The document looks ok in OOo print layout, in print preview it's sometimes displayed ok and sometimes with the strange font. I will upload scans of the Word printout and the OOo printout. If you want to I can mail you the document, it's confidential.

please attach the offending document to this issue, so that we can reproduce and fix the problem here. You can also send the document directly (mru@openoffice.org) for the case it contains confidential data. Feel free to re-open the issue when you've done. Thanks for supporting us!
I just mailed the confidential document to mru@openoffice.org.
Embedded fonts are currently not supported by OOo (see issue 45106). MRU->US: Font seems to be replaced correctly on the screen, but when printing, it seems to be wrong in some cases (see attached pdf). I couldn't reproduce it with our Xerox docuprint, so maybe it is also printer dependent.
I can also see the problem when I open the document in writer, go to print preview, go to the preview of page 4 and set preview zoom to 100%.
Could you pls. install a generic PostScript printer driver to your system (if not already present) and print to file through this driver and attach the PS file to this issue. Thx. Backgroound: OO.o apperently performs a font- or glyphfallback on the printer device as it isn't capable of accessing the document embedded font (see above). Now the actual font being used can only be determined from the PS file (pls. DON'T attach anything else than a PostScript file; thaks). As you almost won't find two identical systems with exactly the same fonts installed it is nearly impossible to reproduce the behaviour on a different host.
I emailed the generic postscript file to us@openoffice.org.
Printer uses * Helvetica, -Bold, -BoldOblique * Times-Roman, -Bold, BoldItalic * Symbol One of them must have this 'special' outline. Can you find out which one? Guess it's the Symbol font, but... Transferring to hdu. us->hdu: suboptimal glyphfallback candidate or simply a sophisticated outlined font with a widespread name?
reassigning.
hdu->eombah: is the font "KPN Sans" available on the system and in Writer's font listbox? Could you export the document as a PDF document in OOo and mail it to me? Thanks.
"KPN Sans" is not available on the system and is not in Writer's font listbox. I just mailed you the exported document as a PDF document in OOo.
Thanks for file you sent! Is a font named Agency available on this system? HDU->FR: I need the name of the alternate font if it is available... (in this case Agency)
reassigning
No, there is no font named Agency available on this system.
should have been reassigned to FLR instead of FR, sorry.
Considering the effort, the priority, the risk and our resource planning I've to target this issue to OOo Later.
