Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50262
Saving an old document is confusing
Last modified: 2013-02-07 21:56:35 UTC
The current dialog for saving older formats looks like this: ------------- "This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in the OpenOffice 1.0 Text Format. Do you want to save the document in this format anyway? - Click 'Yes' to save in Openoffice 1.0 Text Document file format - Click 'No' to use the latest OpenDocument file format and be sure all the formatting and content is saved correctly. [Yes] [No] [More Info] --------- Having buttons labelled 'yes' or 'no', and then dialogs that define what each button actually does, is complex. It's simpler to label the buttons with their function, i.e.: ----------- "This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in the OpenOffice 1.0 Text Format. Do you want to save the document in this format anyway? [ More Info ] [ Save as Openoffice 1.0 ] [ Save as OpenDocument ] ------------ (pick button order you want for whatever platform)
That's not a Defect but an ENHANCEMENT. But *YES* I do agree to 300%! ES->MMP: though I'm not quite a newbie in using OOo, I need from time to time to read this text to understand what this dialog wants from me. We may think about something more global or automated (Save in original format | Save in OOo own format) because of all filters we have and because of translations problems but, please, make this dialog understable at first sight!
