Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5010
Pasting large amounts of text in Write results in some portions being truncated
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
Say for example I copied and pasted text from a webpage which exceeds a page. What Write does: (1) paste the text starting from page 2 (the insertion was in page 1 of a new document when I pressed Ctrl+V), in effect inserting a blank page 1 before doing the pasting. (2) truncate part of the original text, which does not appear at all in the document window of Write. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here? My current workaround is copying and pasting the text in separate batches. But it's sort of an inconvenience as I have to estimate the volume of text that Write will accept.

Vince does this problem still exists in the latest version of OOo? It is possible to do a Paste Special and paste the web page in as unformatted text.
Yes it is possible to paste web page as unformatted text by using Paste Special. On the other hand, per my experience, the problem does not always occur. For certain web pages (long as these may be), pasting them directly into Writer does not cause any problem, while for other web pages, the problem occurs. Note: I still am using OpenOffice.org 1.0.0 as I currently can only access the internet using dial-up and it would be hard to download almost 50MB of file.
An (already targeted) problem in OO Writer is that page breaks within table cells are impossible (see issue 2109). So this one is a duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 2109 ***
