Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 49967
OOo crashes trying to import document with embedded linked graphics files
Last modified: 2005-06-15 13:30:31 UTC
I will attach a sample document that contains nothing but a group of linked graphics files (the actual files reside on the Internet and the Word document contains only the links). If I try to import this document (or any other with embedded linked graphics files) into OOo it hangs. This is 100% repeatable and occurred with 100% of the documents I have with linked graphics files. I found a similar problem with OOo Impress also, and I wouldn't be surprised if Calc is similarly affected.
Created attachment 26624 [details] MS Word XP document with linked graphics files - crashes OOo on import
Could not reproduce the crash with SRC680m105 and with SRC680m78 under Windows XP. But it takes a while to load the document, because of the 12 linked graphics.
May possibly be down to the way Linux handles the linked graphics then. Each time I tried to open such a document (whether in Impress or Writer) the computer would hang indefinitely. In the case of Writer, the hang occurred during the Import process and in the case of Impress it would be when attempting to view the page (or even the page thumbnail). We left the computer for up to 30 minutes but it never came back.
Hi ash_hooper, thanks for using and supporting openOffice.org... I didn't get a problem opening your file here on Solaris using m106... I didn't get a problem opening your file here on FC3 using m106... Did you enter something in Tools -> Options -> Internet -> Proxy ??
OO does not crash here. There exists a performance issue, when a document contains links to http sources on the Internet. See issue 7553. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 7553 ***
